Three considerations I would add, it is more effective to tier your applications in order of importance and in order of recovery (RTO). Some applications may need to back up in minutes, some may be ok in days. Secondly, while a strong back up strategy is foundational, once in a disaster scenario where you put that data and how you attach compute and networking will become critical fast. Great having the data but it needs a complete IT environment to be of use to users. Finally test, test, test, if you have never tested your DR then you probably don't have it. Some industry statistics show that successful DR invocation rates can be as low as 20%.
