In this modern era.. I believe.. technology is everywhere and everything.. its how we make use of it. There are children who do wonders when it comes to technology. Making best use of technology is through the planning first of all.. like design thinking lessons.. it strengthens the curriculum. There is everything involved like creating, designing, inventing etc.

In my experience I’ve found that infrastructure, data, and security are the foundation of a strong technology plan within a school. Once it has been determined that these areas can support your technology, the user experience of the student must be considered followed by the alignment with curriculum, instructional, and assessment goals- in that order.

This point takes me back to training. If your educators are confident with the new tech (ie. It’s been introduced in doses with a clear understanding of the goal of its use) then they can prepare to work it into their plans, utilize it with fidelity, and ensure success for the students with it.

During the pandemic, our school gradually shifted from a free learning app to the learning management system. Training was done to clarify gray areas, continuous training and retraining every semester to reinforce the knowledge on how to adopt the learning management system.

I would also recommend documenting the process so that the school can reflect on the pros and cons of integrating digital technology in their school. Sometimes it is important to follow the trend to stay contemporary while other times you might have to swim against the waves.

These might include metrics on student achievement (e.g., test scores, project quality), technology usage patterns, digital literacy levels, and engagement metrics (e.g., participation in online forums, completion rates for digital assignments).

Continuously evaluate the impact and effectiveness of the new technology, gathering feedback from educators, students, and administrators, and making adjustments as necessary.

When implementing new technology or any kind of change, leaders should do so in a systematic way. They should begin by considering the beliefs of the people involved and then work to develop a shared belief within the organization based on the beliefs of the group as a whole.
