Gaining customer loyalty and trust is not a challenge faced exclusively by FinTech solutions providers. It's a problem faced by every business that has customers. It's quite simple, to build trust a company should carry out whatever promises or deals they have made to their customers. To build loyalty, companies need to communicate when things will not be okay or according to plan and that they are doing their best to deal with things and reward those who have stuck with them!

In my experience, maining transparent communication with customers as well as other relevant stakeholders goes a long way in building trust, loyalty and brand credibility. Transparency should be maintained with all maters wether it’s related to; a) Company’s data policy (Specially applicable for fintechs since many a sensitive data is shared by customers) b) Crisis communication c) Proactive alerts on sensitive matters be it data breach or changes in fees. d) Sales of product/services of the company

Together with the fact that they are usually paying a price for the service they receive, they therefore expect companies to make the most out of the data sets available to them. Meaning, that companies are expected to deliver tailor-made services, messaging, and or support. On the other hand, customers do not want to feel as if their private lives have been invaded, and as such the company knows everything about them. Balance is a necessity here.

Nothing beats a one in one customer interaction by senior folks of the company, specially when the fintech is at an early stage. In the race to become digital most fintechs have also automated their customer support (which is fine). But once in a while the founder/business head/product head should pick up tue phone and talk to the end customer either for feedback or to address a specific query or concern. These interactions help build trust and loyalty as well keeps the team grounded.

Everyone wants to feel valued. How do you stoke this feeling in a FinTech customer/user? Interacting with them is the first step, whether by personal messaging, offers, newsletters or simply just asking for their feedback. The point is to show or give the feeling that the individual customer or user is valued and so is their opinion or that they are valuable and as such they will be offered products, services, and or discounts to keep them with you.

How good you are when you start always count for something but is it as important as how you grow? Drawing an example from YouTubers, we all followed a YouTuber from the very start where production was trash, things were unrefined and raw but we saw them improve the quality of production and content gradually as we watched them evolve into a 'pro' channel gaining even more viewers and we all think 'I've been here since day one!'. This is the same for businesses too, as time passes and you grow, your customers will want to see you improve, especially if their feedback has been taken on, this gives a shared sense of pride in the accomplishments of the product and the fact that they have been with it since the start!

Just be honest. Tell them what you can and cannot do. People always appreciate it when you are up front with them so they see you are not a BS person.

This is a first step and I am sure most companies already consider this aspect but there needs to be a unique value proposition in order to attract customers. This unique proposition comes from listening to customers and doing your research. Also if you cannot offer that uniqeness, then improve your CS and CX to such a level that customers don't drop off in your funnel and convert to promoters.

It is imperative to give precedence to security measures in order to safeguard client data, transactions, and personal information. Fortify user accounts and sensitive data by using strong encryption, multi-factor authentication, and other security mechanisms.
