Communication is key when it comes to user research, particularly with your team. Remember, qualitative and quantitative methods have different guidelines for best practice, but they both have the potential to provide valuable insights. Be aware that you are a co-creator of research results & you can gain a deeper understanding of users' experiences and motivations.

It's important to remember that UX research isn't an end in itself, but a support activity, so the question of methodology is always downstream from the question of who is getting supported, and with what task. Always record the interview. 3. Write a brief summary after each interview (you'll thank yourself later). To organize your data without special research tools: 1. Use Google Sheets to categorize your notes. 2. Group and visualize your notes in Miro. 3. Create a report in Google Slides or Docs for easy sharing. From a user testing perspective with a 3rd party vendor, data collection is primarily in notes taken while watching the videos. The issue here is that casual observers are not really equipped to identify the underlaying issues that are causing friction or confusion. This is where you usually need a UX/UI or CRO practitioner's help to really get the most out of this kind of user testing.

One of my top considerations for communicating results is who is my audience and what do they need to know to make decisions? When communicating insights to members of leadership, for example, I would want to be thoughtful about available bandwidth. I might lean towards sharing results in an executive summary, addressing the top few most impactful insights and relevant recommendations without drilling down into the minutiae of the research findings (ensuring that a full report is available for anyone who would like to do a deeper dive). When speaking to my colleagues on the design team, on the other hand, I'd lean into greater granularity to unpack specific opportunities for resolving pain points or amplifying delight.

Always give yourself a break between remote interviews. Remote research is great – you can cram tons of interviews into one day. But don't overdo it. You need time to properly process the information from each session. For me, 3 to 4 interviews a day is the max, with a 30-minute gap in between.
