My favourite question by far in any pitch is "Describe to me in detail what your ideal "solution" or who your ideal "candidate" or what you ideal "financial Adviser" would do etc. If you can get this in before the interviewer or prospective client states this is best. Even if it comes up early in the "pitch" a few more questions can be asked then you can "circle" back to it and ask . "you touched on this earlier, who you ideally looking for ? Could you please describe this in more detail" If you get a thorough answer then you know very closely what to mention or questions to ask, to be that ideal candidate.

Once you know what you're looking for in your next role you can start to articulate the points that matter the most to you. This is a great place to start on the route to creating smart questions. With that as the context, think about what you already know then identify the gaps in your knowledge that you cant find out through research. Following that, draft, revise and perfect (as much as you can) a smart question.

4 Follow up and stay in touch

After the informational interview, you should send a thank-you note to the person who spoke with you. Express your appreciation for their time and insights, and highlight any key takeaways or action steps that you learned from them. You can also ask for permission to stay in touch and follow up on any topics that you discussed. Keep the communication professional and respectful, and don't spam them with unnecessary messages. If you have any updates on your progress or achievements, you can share them with them and ask for their feedback or advice.
