In my experience, sites such as Coursera and Udemy are often cited as offering flexibility in terms of studying at your own pace and on your own schedule. But there is another key aspect that may get overlooked. If you suddenly find that you cannot finish the course you started, you can restart the course at a later start date and simply pick up where you left off. Many times I have started a course at the beginning of summer “break”, only to pause because I’ve been accepted to teach summer school, or some essential summer PD is posted. I can pause my class and then finish between the end of summer school/PD and the start of the next school year.
