In my opinion, the best way to onboard a new member is to begin by sending him/her an Orientation email prior to joining. Share the agenda of the day, like scheduling meetings with the team leader, line manager, and supporting personnel (IT team and Admin Team) to make them feel welcome. Do share the job description and KPIs. Do not expect them to be productive on the first or second day; let them adjust over a few days. Keep a check on him/her every hour or two to ensure that he/she is not having any problems. Continue to check on him/her the next day, and do so for at least a few days.
