This can range from the kinds of problems they’ve encountered and addressed, to their use formal tools or methodology to lessons learned from prior issues and may even include their strategies for preventing common issues . I preface my behavioural questions with 'tell me about a time when..." to elicit a change management candidate's expertise. If a candidate reverts to a generic answer it's pretty clear they don't yet have the depth of experience in that area.
