Not only us, the recruiters are searching for references about the candidates, but also the candidates are searching for references about the employer. Because we all aim for a long-term partnership, it is important to know from the beginning who we are and which are our common values.

Start with the network of your best perfromers. "A" players hang around with and prefer to work with other "A" players. If they are not referring people it is a strong message the other way.

Leverage employee referrals. Leveraging employee referrals increases your recruiting presence exponentially. If you have one recruiter in a company of one hundred employees, leveraging employee referrals means that you now can have one hundred recruiters all leveraging their networks.

There are only 11 channels that an employer could use to find people. Even with all of the advances in technology, using the right combination of these 11 channels is the most effective and efficient way to find the most qualified people. The first question is where are the people I want to hire already hanging out and then choose three to five channels that meet that criteria. Once you assess results, you can refine the channels you use. And repeat that process for each position.
