This is very important. So much time is spent capturing information, but if nobody is using the data, two negative things happen. Continuous Improvement initiatives would be the first as CI relies on data analysis and validation. Secondly, and possibly more impactful than the first, is the waste of resources.

Avoid knee-jerk reactions and quick fixes to issues that arise. As the saying goes "haste makes waste." When a change is made without considering ramifications of the change, it can sometimes be more detrimental than having left the process alone. What I have seen and found is that if you don't listen to all of the input from top to bottom (being the people who do the task day in and day out) that the change that should of been your problem solving solution ends up being your problem solving diaster.

Most common issue is not considering start up and shutdown, changeovers and maintenance schedules in manufacturing time management. These are core activities for any manufacturing but often left out. Another issue is unavailability of standards which determine time requirements for specific operation, speed targets and efficiencies. Lastly we need to consider capacities of supporting operations and suppliers which will affect your operation if they are not sufficient to support you.
