Again, communicate clearly and frequently, letting your team know about changes to the current state ASAP helps to build a bridge between them and management. If you're uncertain about an answer or unable to provide one at the moment, it's perfectly acceptable to say something like, "I'll look into that and follow up with you" or, "I'll share that information with you as soon as I have it." The more open and honest your communication with them, the less likely they are to speculate and escalate concerns or emotions.

This one almost made me laugh because I had to think of a lot of team leads and managers who had no idea what people management is actually about; and how much I struggled with speaking on eye-level with them. It was like reading university exam questions to kindergarteners (no offense; all team leads and managers I worked with were great). Especially when they would think "HR is a piece of garbage" we don't need lingering around. Resistance can be very layered and multidimensional, and it needs strategy, negotiation skills, and quite some resilience to tackle effectively.

There is always resistance to the change. This is general and natural phenomena but that is where the good leadership skills come into play. Involve the team in decision making by seeking their ideas and opinions having brain storming sessions to arrive at workable and feasible decision so that team members feel ownership in decision making process. Make them feel important. Impress upon as to how the changes are for betterment of theirs as well as the organisation. Don’t make a hasty changes. There has to be gradual change. Leader has to have conviction about changes and should be able to convince the team to embrace the changes by his professionalism, transparency, integrity, accountability and commitment.

Not everyone who has reached to a position where he/she is leading a team know people management and it becomes their superior's responsibility to guide n cultivate required skills in them. People reach those positions because of their experience but lack skills to collaborate and lead people with different skills n abilities and results in failure. There should be continuous training and monitoring by senior leader to groom people under them who belive in collaboration with different team and motivated to take initiatives to reach goal by keeping everyone together.

I find the lack of leadership in most industries to be disturbing. That's not to say that people in senior roles aren't exceptionally good managers and or people but rather they are not able to lead. Everyone likes to think they are a leader, the truth is that very few are.

Cross functional initiatives mainly fail because they are made to fulfil the KPIs majorly rather than having a real effect. If the outcome and impact is made important rather than the KPI of the party organising it, that would make a better result. In addition, employees remaining clueless of the reason and also not having a motivation to participate can turn out to the big factors contributing to the problem in implementation.

As the reasons mentioned, can be seen in spectrum scheme, and not in a single solution way, if we want to add some critical keyword to the topic, it is "Motivation" as a powerful discipline to this multidisciplinary concept. Being aware of that, Tracking and keeping Motivation in a safe level, in time-bounded project-based environment, is much easier than maintaining in long-term value-based businesses.
