Every word in your research question matters. Every single word. You are defining the parameters of research, and you will have to address, answer, and defend everything in that question. Panicked is the person who realizes, at some point well into research, that the question is so flawed that it can’t even be tweaked. That’s why it’s essential to confer with experts who can help you frame the question well from the beginning.

Ah, the research question. Before you start writing versions of this question, really step back and think about WHY you are interested in this topic, and why others should be, too. Build off of that to include WHAT you are going to answer about this topic, and indicate what kind of a gap in the field you are filling.

Be very careful about choosing a mixed method. Quantitative and qualitative are sufficiently time-consuming by themselves, and sone students who choose mixed method drop one of the two after realizing that they just don’t have enough time. I was one of those students. Be realistic about your time constraints and don’t bite off more than you can chew.

Much of the literature you read is research conducted at universities, funded by grants or awards, carried out by staffs, and analyzed by several principals. You are just you, curious and determined you. When you consider your dissertation as part of a body of knowledge, you realize you can contribute your piece, not all of the knowledge, and that piece will be significant and useful to others. Each of us in a field is adding to the knowledge in that field. Choose a method that you have the capacity to conduct within your budget and timeframe.

It felt like a forced exercise in summarizing everything that had been said before. When I began to tie my summaries to my research question, however, my path was illuminated and all became clear. Your literature review should establish the background knowledge and context your reader needs to know in order to follow your argument and research. It should also highlight how your approach is going to add, complicate, extend, compare, refute the arguments in the existing literature...or how you're going to use the methodologies in the existing literature to explore something new.

But you will change your dissertation when you publish it, and it won't be the last thing you write. So do your best, but remember that perfection can be the enemy of the good. And a first draft is not going to be good yet - expect that. But it is easier to edit and revise than it is to write from scratch. It's all part of the process!
