The best way to convince a stakeholder is to have the stakeholder convince themselves. (But you don't always have to convince all stakeholders). I always share an early draft of my ideas with my stakeholders which states my own views strongly while making it extremely clear that nothing is final yet. Then I incorporate my stakeholders' feedback wherever it makes sense. You want buy-in but you definitely don't want a watered down, "design by committee" project. We should never dilute what a project is, only for the sake of alignment. Trust is actually built when you and your stakeholder has a meaningful disagreement and can commit to the disagreement. So involve, but never dilute.

The heatmap of a stakeholder be they, buyer, influencer, risk owner or any persona is crucial. You must identify the whole heatmap of key influencers/stakeholders. This is your start point for building relationships that will influence your outcome. It’s so important to find common ground with as many as you can. But be aware, some you will just not click with. Stakeholders engagement start from costant strategic communication with all stakeholders,listening to thier perspectives and then suggest some modifications that can be made to all the procedure and processes they mentioned during the conversation and ensure they are in line with company's ethics and compliant and result oriented for both internal and external customers.

In my experience, I have found that the way you react matters and this is true with any situation as your response sets the tone of the engagement with any stakeholder. It is extremely important to engage stakeholders in a confident manner understanding your limitation’s, and when needed surrounding yourself with people that are engaged and are subject matter experts. being able to build a level of confidence with the stakeholder is key.
