What is life cycle assessment and how is it used in EIA?

The life cycle assessment, or LCA, is a method for assessing the environmental impact of a product, process, or service throughout its life cycle. If a manufactured product is considered, the environmental impact is assessed from the extraction and processing of raw materials (cradle), to its manufacture, distribution, and use up to its recycling or disposal.
