1 Network fundamentals

As a Telecommunications Systems professional, you already have a solid foundation in network fundamentals, such as protocols, topologies, architectures, and devices. However, to work in network security, you need to deepen your understanding of how networks operate, how they can be attacked, and how they can be defended. You should be familiar with concepts such as TCP/IP, OSI model, routing, switching, VPNs, firewalls, encryption, and authentication. You should also be able to use tools such as Wireshark, Nmap, and Netcat to monitor, scan, and test network traffic and security.

Cybersecurity fundamentals: Familiarize yourself with core cybersecurity concepts, threat detection, vulnerability assessment, risk management, incident response. 2. Learn how to use network security tools such as firewalls, intrusion detection and prevention systems (IDS/IPS), VPNs, endpoint security solutions, and network monitoring tools to protect and secure a network. 3. Understand security best practices such as the principle of least privilege, encryption techniques, access control mechanisms, and secure configuration management
