One approach to uncover the story you want to tell is by using Ideo’s Bar Test. Imagine yourself at a bar, drink in hand, chatting with a friend or stranger. They ask you about the product, service, or presentation you’re currently working on. What would you say? What key points would you emphasize, and equally important, what would you leave out? Envisioning a chat in a bar setting compels us to center our attention on the essence (i.e., on the main point of the story) and forces us to come up with something that will be engaging to our audience. Best Ideas at times are rejected mainly due to the fact that the idea is not delivered well. Storytelling is a great strategy to deliver it to the stakeholders. Crafting the story in a proper format and presenting it with a specific style increases the likelihood to win.
