I believe the primary goal for most manufacturers is to produce the most amount of OK goods in the least amount of time. OEE, MTTR, MTBF, Throughput and Defect Rate are some commonly used KPIs. Depending on the industry, machines and PLCs can directly feed this data - parts produced, downtime, good parts etc. to upstream apps.
