For individuals who do not learn well in social settings or are neurodivirgent with sensory limitations there can be one on one or time for independent learning through audio/visual or written assignment. Even if group interactions could overwhelm, there is benefit in face-to-face time to build rapport, trust and introduce the company culture in the 360.

From my experience, the most important part of the face-to-face session is the icebreaker activity at the beginning. You should be able to use this activity and the introductions at the beginning to analyze your audience. Get to know more about them, their personalities, learning styles, motivators. You could do this using questions or quizzes before starting your content.

The benefit of Face to Face orientation is that it enables the employee to ask questions, so it’s a two way interaction. Most employees on their first day, aren’t interested in the H&S Policies or how marketing use social media to promote the brand. Employees are interested in things like, “where will I sit” “where can I put my bag” “where do I go for lunch” “where can I make a coffee” “where’s the toilet” “who’s in my team”. So having a face to face orientation gets all these initials concerned out the way so later the employee can focus on the more important information you want to provide them.
