6 How to choose the best tool for your e-learning needs?

When it comes to choosing a tool for e-learning, there is no one-size-fits-all solution. Your decision should be based on your needs, goals, and preferences. Consider the type and level of interactivity you want to provide, the amount and frequency of content that needs to be created and updated, the size and diversity of your learner audience and their learning styles, and the budget and resources available for e-learning development and maintenance. You may also find that using both an LMS and a CMS can be beneficial. For instance, you can use a CMS to create and manage content, then import it into an LMS for delivery and assessment. Alternatively, you can use an LMS to create courses, then supplement them with additional resources through a CMS.

Don't always assume that you need an LMS to support your learning content. You should first identify and understand the learner and what they need to be a successful user. You then need to understand the objectives of the business, and what their measurement and reporting needs are. Finally you must explore what the long-term goals of the business are. Where will they be in 3, 6 or 9 years time. Then you can decide if a CMS, perhaps with a simple SCORM plugin, will suffice. Or whether you get them up and running on the platform they will need in 3 years' time. When evaluating, you should also consider whether you need an LXP or LRS platform... but that's another topic all together.

If you want to provide a learning experience to your learners the LMS would be the right choice ( from onboarding which is an important part of a company, developing specific skills when changing the role within the company, providing your clients an interactive learning experience about your services/products). If you want to add microlearning resources, learning materials, guides, templates, processes where your employees can have always access, then CMS would be the best fit.
