In my experience, IT departments miss out on viewing their supplier capabilities and performance accurately by intermixing their internal teams with the external suppliers in the platform. To get the most benefit IT management should assure the vendor information is isolated such that metrics only include data related to that vendor.

This creates central point of vulnerability where people who are hired at the it management software company have access to your customer personal data and there is generally a lacking of logs who views this stuff. We need a solid open source solution which will log this stuff and present it with ease. Ability to audit and see views from internal employees should be priority.

One of the dangers of the cloud-supported business world, is that employees of all levels are enabled to bypass established company customs and business processes to purchase many tools that are unavailable within the company-- termed as Shadow IT. While mostly well-intentioned, this activity imposes significant risk on the organization. Implementing the proper ITSM software can support an organization's IT and Security teams efforts to partner and enact processes that catalog such requested and/or purchased solutions, and work together to make proper business decisions about which solutions to invest in, or not. This partnership is vital for proper technical risk management.
