1 Know your audience

Before you start crafting your presentation, you need to understand who you are talking to and what they care about. Do some research on their background, expectations, pain points, and goals. Tailor your content, tone, and style to match their level of knowledge, interest, and needs. For example, if you are presenting to a technical team, you might want to focus more on the functionality and feasibility of your design, while if you are presenting to a business team, you might want to emphasize the value and impact of your design.

This is the most important point, really. Presenting to a CEO is going to be different compared to a bunch of backend coders. The idea is to keep things simple, either way, and to assume that people don't know a single thing about what you're talking about, and even if they do know, their understanding might be completely different from yours. In a scrum, for example, UI designers will view each sprint as an opportunity to iterate their designs while coders would want to lock down the content for each sprint and consider it done. Understand what each stakeholder wants from your work, and how it fits with their objectives, and you'll be in a better place to sell your work to others. And sell it you must.

2 Tell a story

A good presentation is not just a collection of slides, but a narrative that takes your audience on a journey. Start with a clear and compelling introduction that sets the context, defines the problem, and states your objective. Then, guide your audience through your design process, explaining your research methods, findings, insights, ideation, prototyping, testing, and iteration. Show how your design solves the problem and meets the objective. End with a strong and memorable conclusion that summarizes your key points and calls for action.

3 Show your work

One of the best ways to demonstrate your UX design skills and thinking is to show your work. Include relevant and engaging visuals, such as sketches, wireframes, mockups, prototypes, screenshots, videos, or animations. Use annotations, labels, or captions to highlight the key features, interactions, or feedback of your design. Avoid cluttering your slides with too much text or information. Use simple and consistent layouts, fonts, colors, and icons. Make sure your visuals are clear, legible, and aligned with your brand or style guidelines.

UX may also be presented in Designer's portfolio. Whether UI in portfolio is just visuals, UX can be short texts/research results and explanations why you decided to do so. Service blueprint, Customer Journey Maps, User personas and others could also have place to be in your portfolio

4 Be prepared

A successful presentation requires not only good content, but also good delivery. Practice your presentation several times before the actual event, preferably in front of a friend, colleague, or mentor who can give you honest feedback. Time yourself and adjust your pace and length accordingly. Anticipate possible questions or objections from your audience and prepare your answers or counterarguments. Check your equipment, software, and internet connection beforehand. Dress appropriately and confidently. Smile, make eye contact, and use positive body language.

5 Engage your audience

A presentation is not a one-way communication, but a dialogue between you and your audience. Invite them to participate and interact with you throughout your presentation.
