Make sure to include your own staff in stakeholder meetings. Don't just focus on dealers, retailers, and customers (and even competitors) .. remember your internal team. Also, define clear goals for the events. It's more than just photos, certificates, and fancy dinners; there should be a meaningful engagement that aligns with the company's strategy and success.

Identifying and prioritising stakeholders is key. Focus on quality conversations and a memorable experience. This is particularly important for potential new customers or relationships who will need a compelling reason to attend. Remember that the conversation and experience is most important if you are going to enhance your brand and reputation in the market. Think carefully before investing large sums of money about how many conversations need to be held, what follow up will be in place after the event and how you will build and maintain the relationship following the event. The “acquisition” cost needs to be relative and proportionate to what you sell. Budget the appropriate investment and demonstrate a clear return on that investment.

While face to face events are often preferable they can be expensive to manage, deliver and resource. Online events, webinars and podcasts have grown in popularity and can provide a very cost effective way of communicating as long as the content is accessible, unique and engaging. Again, how you will make contact with new audiences and consider the follow up needed to convert their interest into future business or growth.
