In my experience, most important aspect of data lineage analysis is to track and understand the complete journey of data within an organization, from its source to its destination, including all the transformations and varied processes it undergoes. There can be multiple departments using the same datasets redundantly. So understanding the full landscape is very helpful before digging deep for analytics. This helps ensure data quality, compliance, and provides transparency for decision-making and troubleshooting in data-driven environments.
