What happens if they are thrown into a room and have to make a speech? And why? Then answer those questions for your characters. The ‘why’ questions are the hardest to answer, but if you understand your character this well, they will be easy to write. Most important point to remember - not all characters are you. Fight against the urge to make them all agree on the same principles or have the same outlook on life. That will take away any conflicts or energy from your script.

It is already hard to be able to create an animation film, let alone one that stand the test of time. First, make sure you respect your motivations and style to the fullest. Being yourself will be key to understand if you have something really different from others. Practice a lot, develop your identity and technique and keep pushing the boundaries of what’s possible every single day. Don’t take no as a quick answer, focused always in what is important to you. Only then you will be able to connect to great stories and enhance the possibility to create something original, and unique enough to be considered so ground breaking that will hold in time. Rest assured that you will require a lot to create original artistic animated (or not) films.
