I would also add the use of products like OpenET and Land IQ to support decision-making. OpenET represents an important shift in water-resource management. Based on measurements of evapotranspiration (ET), a key indicator for sustainable water use, it is the only product that can determine how much water is being consumed by crops using free and open satellite data. This information will enhance our scientific understanding of the cycling of water and, by helping planners and ecologists track precipitation, flows and plant water use, will improve natural resource management and decision-making in water-limited regions.
