What are effective strategies for developing a content creation plan?

It's important to align the brand's strategic marketing goals with the audience's tactical desires. To understand the audience's preferences, it's essential to answer the following questions: What topics and news are currently relevant among the audience? Which content did they engage with most positively? Which content received the least favorable response from them?

Niche down to the point where you can name your 50 buyers in 50 companies? And you know their exact pain points, and are those pain points severe enough to motivate them to take action? On an emotional level, being able to connect with another human creates a connection that can form the foundation of trust. From trust, relationships are built, and from relationships, customers are developed. Where and how do these 50 buyers consume content? What platform, type, length, and context do they prefer? What have they posted and where? If you can't find the answers to these questions for the buyers themselves, try looking for their proxies.

One of the best ways to know your audience is to know yourself. Because that makes it easy to speak with them. Knowing yourself comes with identify your best topic, your strength and weakness, and your style of speaking. And when you bring all of these into your content, you easily attract the audience you can serve.

It may seem like the whole world is your target but niching down will get you better results. Most living creatures would benefit by using what I speak about…the scientific evidence is here to prove it. But I target a specific group. I’m an old woman and I relate to more issues that can be discussed around typical elderly aches and pains so I target elders going through the same thing. Seeking various groups of people can be an effective way to gain insight. Book clubs, social clubs, church groups, and even the clients in beauty salons and barbershops will stop and listen if you talk about the matter. It’s easy to chat about what you know to someone who’s really interested. Find your people and keep talking.

So many content creators just regurgitate what others are saying. Have a point of view. Be the unique voice.

To define your niche, i'd say it's a passion + skills + trends. However, it's important to also note purpose because purpose is long term unlike passion and that's what makes your niche satisfying; whatever type of niche you are.

Identifying your unique value proposition is equally crucial. Beyond your niche, pinpoint what sets your content apart. It could be a distinctive style, a fresh perspective, or a unique storytelling approach. Additionally, stay attuned to audience feedback. Regularly analyze comments, engagement metrics, and trending topics to adapt and evolve. Collaboration is another potent strategy. Partnering with fellow creators expands your reach, introduces you to new audiences, and fosters a sense of community. Remember, flexibility is key. The digital landscape evolves rapidly, so be ready to pivot your content strategy based on emerging trends and audience preferences.

Passion + Skills + Market Demand = Niche Your niche is where your passion meets your skills and aligns with what your audience wants. It's the sweet spot that sets you apart and establishes your authority in your content creation journey.

We all have the tendency to think we can go big and just bust out amazing content from day 1. Most of us kinda suck at first. Be ok with this. Get better each time. Think of your content as means to build a community. Listen to your community. Learn from your community. Be realistic in goal setting. Set achievable goals.

Goal setting is important in content creation just like it is in every other thing we do. It gives you focus on one thing and boosts your productivity.

Choose 1 and master it. Ignore the others. Build your domain authority. Learn your tone and style. Learn from you audience. Build your audience so that you can build a community. Be thoughtful in your creations. Be the master of your domain (points for who can pick out the pop culture reference!). Your community will follow you to other platforms. Linkedin is all the rage. Untapped potential.

Content Format + Audience Preferences = Platform Choice Consider your audience's preferences, your content format, budget, time, and goals when selecting platforms. While you don't need to be on every platform, consistency and strategic presence on chosen platforms are key to effective content distribution.

Whatever type of platform you choose ad a content creator, one rule that binds them all is consistency in serving that audience the value used for them.

Keep it simple at first. Sometimes all you need is a spreadsheet. Build the titles. Add the sub headings. Add bullet points. Its easy to do the above, but once you get 10, 20, 30 titles you can start to create the actual content. Pay attention to the time it takes to produce 1 good piece of content. Use that info to create a realistic posting schedule. Align the posting schedule to your audiences consumption patterns. This was the breakthrough for me. I am in the process of doing exactly this.
