But the problem with multi sourcing is that it creates minimal synergies between the vendors and leads to conflict. So the best is In house and total outsourcing.

En mi caso soy yo que hago todas las funciones de TI a mis clientes donde le gestiono tanto las copias de seguridad y un buen mantenimiento informático al ser clientes peque?os que lo tienen todo externalizado. Si son empresas más grandes con su própios informáticos, se debería de externalizar la copias de seguridad fuera de la empresa y tener unos buenos backups con un sistema NAS interno. Referente al hosting también debe ser externo. Por lo demás todo debería ser interno y bien gestionado.

I have always categorized my outsourcing in three different buckets: - Commodity services that are easy to be transferred to other provider if needed. Normally these are well defined and easy to purchase. - Tactical services that must be available, but are our company or business specific. There I have put my effort to find right size of suppliers and if possible choose 2 providers that will push each other to develop the service. In some cases this alse helps in business continuity. The third one are strategical services where I have looked for a supplier who thinks we can significantly help them to succeed while they provide us the service.

So do the same thing with sourcing providers. Let them know that a mutual cooperative relationship will help both be successful.
