To become a software quality engineer, you must possess a strong background in software development, while also having an eye for detail and the ability to problem solve. Additionally, you must be proficient in at least one programming language, such as Java, Python, C#, or Ruby, to write and execute test scripts and automate testing processes. You must also be familiar with testing frameworks like Selenium, TestNG, JUnit, or Cucumber to create and run test cases and scenarios for different types of testing. Furthermore, you should be able to use testing tools such as Postman, SoapUI, JMeter, or LoadRunner to test the functionality and performance of web services, APIs, and applications. Finally, you must be aware of the quality standards and best practices that govern the software development lifecycle such as ISO 9001, IEEE 829, or Agile methodologies and apply them to your work.
