What do you do if you've made common networking mistakes in your leadership career?

Cometer errores en tu carrera ya sea como líder o empleado es algo común. Somos humanos y por tanto imperfectos. Para mí la clave está en que un líder debe ser alguien que inspire y cree confianza a su alrededor. Y muchas veces dependiendo de los errores esta se rompe. En estos casos lo mejor es sinceridad. Pedir disculpas. Mostrarse como alguien humano y rectificar. Cambiar el comportamiento y demostrar a la otra persona que nuestras palabras van alineadas con nuestra forma de comportarnos. Recuerda que ser un buen líder no va con ser infalible eso solo pasa con los superhéroes en las películas. El liderazgo va sobre los demás no sobre uno y por tanto si me equivoco, me como el ego y pido disculpas de corazón. ?Eso es ser un líder!

This is interesting for me as I was so focused on being the best sales leader I could be for my crew for 20 yrs that networking took a complete back seat. Every second of every day was invested in making sure my people had every chance to be successful. There was no time for anything else. I worked with hundreds of amazing people along the way and helped create many sales leaders and rock stars who are now the heartbeat of my network, but beyond that, my network didn’t exist. Now running my own business, I am building my wider network from scratch using LinkedIn and that is ok too. It is never too late to build your network. Get on the front foot with it, be consistent, invest half an hr each day, be useful and people will be drawn to you.

Todos cometemos errores en algún momento de nuestras carreras, lo importante es cómo respondemos y aprendemos de ellos para crecer y mejorar. Ser honesto con uno mismo, reconocer el error, asumir la responsabilidad, entender el error y por qué ocurrió, es básico para continuar adelante y no obsesionarse ni limitarse por los errores cometidos. Obtener feedback del equipo, managers, mentores, etc, te ayudará a ganar una visión más amplia de la situación, conocer el alcance real y relativizarlo.
