What do you do if you're struggling with common challenges as a new writer starting your career?

Search the profiles of much experienced writers in linkedin within your niche and get an idea of which common skills and practices they did, did they all manage to take a certain course according to your niche, are there certain publications those writers follow.

The number one thing a new writer should do to grow their writing skills is read. (The same holds true for intermediate writers, and advanced writers.) I wrote a whole book about why. But don't take my word for it: "If you read good books, when you write, good books will come out of you." -- Natalie Goldberg "If you don't have time to read, you don't have the time (or the tools) to write. Simple as that." -- Stephen King "Think before you speak. Read before you think." -- Fran Liebowitz 'Read, read, read. Read everything -- trash, classics, good and bad, and see how they do it. Just like a carpenter who works as an apprentice and studies the master. Read! You'll absorb it. Then write." -- William Faulkner

Write about those struggles and make them entertaining, interesting and profitable. You're joining a club of other writers and those are the early dues you pay.

Growing in the craft of writing requires a lot of reading. Read widely and being new in the game does not mean you shouldn't share your work. Keep sharing, be open to opinions. Join a writing circle/group or create one. ...

As a new writer, my biggest challenge was wondering who would read my work and whether it would be relatable. But with time, I realized that overcoming these initial challenges and blocks is crucial because it's only after that we can see our real potential. So, in the beginning, don't worry about anything except CONSISTENCY. Write on a daily basis, take inspiration from everything in your surroundings, save the good ideas you like somewhere, and ask your friends and peers for their raw feedback. With this approach, within 30 days, you'll undoubtedly see significant improvement in your writing skills.

While writing I see many challenges but the biggest of them all is inspiration. The only quickest tip I can give you is to save the good lines whenever you see in a folder Copywriting or sales copy is more about research then writing complex words. Making is simpler through research and reading will help a-lot

I feel writing should reflect your views in the most simple way so that you connect with your readers instantly. Time is short for too many elaborate details which spoil the appeal to many readers. Rest all depends on the topic you choose and what you are trying to convey, which I feel should be completely the decision of the writer.

One alternative way of managing writers block, maybe to embrace the fact that you are writing about something that does not inspire you. Whenever you feel a pain point it’s an opportunity to review if you are actually pursuing the right project writers block may also be prelevant if your research, inspiration or motivation for a topic is not in alignment with your values or what’s important to you, it’s always important to review your why when you are embarking on any writing project.

Writer's block is like a puzzle piece that just won’t fit, no matter how you turn it. Think of it as trying to play soccer with a flat ball - super annoying, huh? To get the ideas bouncing again, switch it up! Maybe step outside, play your favorite song, or sketch some superheroes. It’s about giving your thoughts some playtime. Talking with your friends or listening to music could kick-start your imagination. Writing a bit every day keeps your idea engine running smooth. Even though some days the engine doesn't want to move. Just keep seeing writing as playful and the block doesn’t stand a chance!

As a creative writer, facing common challenges is par for the course. One obstacle that often arises is the struggle to find privacy amidst the chaos of daily life. It's like if you made a super cool video game, you'd want to tell people who love games about it, right? Simple but you're be surprised how many people skip simply tasks. So, think about who would love your writing and tell them your story. Yes, that's simple. :)

"There's no such thing as a boring product, just boring marketing." Many voices sound alike, not due to lack of originality, but from the frequent use of identical templates. Templates are frameworks, offering suggested flows, not final destinies. Infuse any template with your unique style to distinguish yourself from the monotonous copy-paste crowd. True, nothing under the sun is entirely original. Yet, nobody else is you. You possess a blend of perception, insights, and wisdom. You're capable of imprinting your unique mark on the page, the screen, and even on the stage, or simply in everyday interactions. Remember, it's not the canvas but the artist that captivates the audience.

Remember - your book isn't for everyone. You're not writing for the (close to) 8 billion people on our planet. Go niche, and niche again. If you're trying to be all things to all people, you'll end up with something so vanilla it'll be 'nothing to nobody' - people semi-interested might pick it up, too: winner!

For novice writers, the publishing landscape can seem daunting, but it's essential to approach it strategically. Begin by comprehensively understanding your target audience and where they congregate. Direct your submissions to platforms or publishers that align with your genre and writing voice. Networking within the writing community and forging connections with industry insiders can also lead to valuable opportunities. Despite inevitable rejections, view them as stepping stones rather than setbacks. Each rejection brings you one step closer to acceptance, so persist in submitting your work with confidence and determination.

New writers often underestimate the importance of marketing. But establishing yourself as a brand and strategically reaching your target audience is crucial for finding success. Find your niche. Specialize in a particular genre or topic to attract a defined audience. Build a strong online presence. Create a professional website or portfolio showcasing your writing samples, and contact information. Network with other writers and industry professionals. Attend writing conferences, join online communities, and connect with potential clients on social media platforms. Engage with your audience. Share your expertise by posting informative articles or snippets of your work on social media.

I believe the best way to engage a reader is to tell a story. I am a natural storyteller, so it is just the way I write. I also teach principles in my writing so stories are an ideal way to communicate truths. I liken it to zucchini. My children hate zucchini. My older son will hardly touch anything green. But green things are good for you so I hide zucchini in other delicious ingredients and make zucchini bread. Then, they not only eat it, they love it and want more. In the same way, when you tell a story, you can hide your message or lesson in the story and your readers relish it because it “tastes” so good. Your story is all the other delicious ingredients that makes your reader want to read more, too. #MamaLiz

It's about creating a connection that connects on a personal level. Through emotional storytelling, relatable characters, or thoughtful themes, the goal is to make your readers feel seen and understood. Interact with your audience through comments, social media, or reader forums to gain insights into what they love about your work and what they hope to see next. It's like building a bridge between your world and theirs, making every story a shared adventure. But always make the reader feel like they are or can become the hero of the story.

One of the most important parts of the whole gig here, is to ENGAGE YOUR READERS, right?! But how do you engage your readers if you don't HAVE any yet? This is why there are most definitely TWO parts to being a successful writer these days, and one of these is to identify and develop your target audience. This is tougher than it sounds, because it involves putting a LOT of TIME and ENERGY into engaging yourself with others on social media, in readers groups, writers groups, etc. Start a blog to showcase your writing skills and gain more exposure. A lot of the job is going to come down to how big your audience is and how loyal your readers are. If you're serious, that is. In my experience only, of course.

Connecting with readers includes catching their consideration and bringing them into your composition. Make balanced words that they can connect with or understand. Give them profundity, imperfections, and inspirations that drive the story forward and also, try not to coddle everything to your readers; leave space for interpretation and permit them to make their own associations and revelations. This can prompt a more vivid understanding experience and energize dynamic commitment with your composition.

Managing time as a writer is a unique challenge. Obviously, the technical end of it can fit in a box but the ideas to create do not usually work on a schedule. I have learned the best way to manage my time as a writer is to give my creatively freedom. When an idea pops in my head for a chapter, I clear my schedule of everything else if at all possible and run with it right at that moment. Value that creative burst moment as much as if it was your most important client and give it your undivided attention at a moment’s notice. When the creative juices are flowing, catch the flow. It is a waste of time for me to try to make something happen. I let it happen and when it does, I drop everything to give it all my time.

Establish a set time every day to do your writing, and stick to it. There's a lot advice out there about writing, but my favorite piece came from J.P. Donleavy: "The secret to writing is having time to write."

"Time is the coin of your life. It is the only coin you have, and only you can determine how it will be spent." - Carl Sandburg. Managing time means making choices. Pick what's most important to your writing and focus there. Think of your day like a jar of cookies. Sounds childish but many live as if they are a child without being mindful the time they have. Let's go back to a sweet thought. If writing is your favorite cookie, make sure you save space for it, even if you have lots of other cookies (stuff) to fit in the jar (your day). Again, it sounds childish. But adults are grown up teenagers. Don't allow your childish belief that you will always have time. Focus on what is important and make time to enjoy it. :)

I’ve found incredibly useful outlining a weekly schedule and sticking to it. List all tasks that need to be done and block time for each of them. It’s has helped me to stay motivated and avoid procrastinating.

If you get stuck, move on and come back to it. You don't necessarily need to write something in order. I often struggle trying to think of how to write the start or end of something. Rather than banging my head against the wall and wasting time, I move on and sort out the middle bits.

"Motivation is what gets you started. Habit is what keeps you going." - Jim R. Staying motivated means finding what sparks your writing fire and keeping that flame alive, even on tough days. Imagine motivation as your favorite video game. You play because it's fun, right? Make writing a game you want to win every day. Make it simple to win. For me its sitting down and writing at least 4 lines. It's so easy I start with a great state of already winning. From there, anything past 4 lines I tap into flow and write pages daily. The idea is to start simple and daily practice to create a daily habit. Motivation becomes consistent with habits. Connect that thought with the habit of writing.

Self-Motivation is the key. One has to do everything on own, be it own studies/gaining degrees, writing exam, giving interviews, manage personal chores, manage own family and professional choices.... so self-driven people only achieve what they dream. And this has to be consistent, sustainable enough to pull you through lows of life. Keep writing consistently and keep your self motivated to transmit same positive energy to others.

Sustaining motivation amidst challenges is crucial for budding writers. Set attainable goals, celebrate even minor successes, and surround yourself with supportive individuals who champion your writing journey. Above all, cling to the initial passion that sparked your desire to write, letting it serve as the unwavering force that propels you forward through any obstacle.

Staying motivated as a writer starts with your "why." Connect with the passion that drives your writing—whether it's to inform, entertain, or inspire. Break down large projects into manageable tasks to create a sense of achievement. Celebrate small wins, and remember that every word you write is progress. Surround yourself with supportive voices, be it through a writers' group or a mentor. Lastly, maintain a balance; rest is as vital as perseverance, allowing for a fresh perspective and renewed energy. Keep your goals in sight, and let your commitment to your craft fuel your journey.

Keep the end game in mind amd understand the book can only ne birthed through you! Stay focused on your 'why' and your "who' and that will help you remember that writing the book is not a choice; it is a non-negotiable must!

Connect with others. It's all too easy to feel isolated as a new writer and to feel the burden of creating content. Connect with others in person, by phone, or on social media. Ask questions. Read their work. Support them. In turn, you'll build community, establish identity, and be able to test your ideas.

Trust the Process Yes, you are a new writer. It's okay to have challenges but to overcome these, you need to trust the process. Overnight success isn't 24 hours, it takes time so allow yourself trust and enjoy the process. You want the likes, engagement, mention, community, clients, dollars It will come if you give yourself the chance to see what'll happen if you don't give up. While trusting the process, Ride on the wings of experts. See what they're doing right (not what they are writing) Infuse it in your content Focus on getting 1% better daily by helping someone with your skill. If you don't give up, you'll win. I'm not saying pay them. You have the skills already but you need help in

When I started writing, I struggled a whole lot but the more I write, the better I become. I realised that as a writer, once one doesn't stop writing, one will keep getting better by the day. Keep writing, keep reading and making research, keep equipping yourself with resource materials in your niche as well because you can't draw from a dry well.

I think one of the most important things a new author must overcome is they often look at experienced authors and discount the value of their own ideas. That makes the ideas stagnate behind that wall that says it is not good enough. Trust that what you share has great value. No one else can say it quite the way you can. You are also giving your audience a gift when you write. A gift of your art. A gift of your heart. When you recognize your writing has value, it frees your heart and mind to chase the uniqueness of your voice and to value your ideas. When you see your writing as a gift to others, you want to share that gift. Then, the self doubt dam breaks and the well overflows with new ideas. #Mamaliz
