What do you do if you're a mid-career teacher seeking professional growth and development opportunities?

I made a similar transition, and what I realized is that there are so many skills I had as a teacher and leader which translated to my career in Edtech, and our team is made almost entirely of former teachers. I would suggest mapping out your skills as a teacher, then exploring how they might work in a different context. I would also recommend spending time networking and attending events as much as you can in order to explore adjacent opportunities in education companies. There are a lot of virtual events which do not require a fee and in person events like Edcamps. There are certifications you can explore that could also help, especially in AI in education right now. Spend time with a few people working in spaces you are interested in.

Una vez se tenga clara la ruta desarrollar hábitos de aprendizaje permanent que permitan habilitar nuevas capacidades para lograr llegar a las metas planteadas

My recommendation is to keep yourself up-to-date with your career and at the same time knocking all doors, meaning trying yourself in each style, track of career which may influence your chances, so that at some time you'll love, or find your passion in one of the tracks in teaching maybe you would like new styles,online learning, lecturing adults, research or any track of teaching career

Not all people are the same, your skills are different from your friends even if all of are teaching the same subjects. So you need to ask yourself what is the most thing you feel that you can do perfect and at the same time you always inspired with it? This is the thing that you might be skilled in

There is always updates in each subject, do your best to become up to date, study and participate in local and international conferences, seeking for more training and information

Planning is important. Working with no plans might be useless, give time limits for each step in your journey, get new plans if you have circumstances, make your own feedback for yourself and celebrate winning

Setting plans need experienced people, and training. You need to investigate what's you expected at the end of the journey and during journey. Set plans for problems that you might face during journey and how to solve them. Seek for help if needed. What you must know from the beginning is that all plans can be changed at some circumstances and all journeys can be stopped at some point

Once you know your direction, creating a plan for the next stage in your development can be really exciting. Communicating your hopes for further learning and desired outcome with your leadership team may provide opportunities for support in either time or funding to engage with professional learning. Organisations - such as subject teaching groups, universities - can provide great resources for further development from quick readings to immersive courses and conferences. The planning stage is an opportunity to explore and get excited by the possibilities and decide what will work for you.

Consider branching out and doing some external work! This could be in the form of private tutoring (1-1 or group classes), starting a blog or YouTube channel, or even exam marking. These options will both enhance your career as a teacher as well providing the possibility of earning additional income without the risk of quitting the day job.
