As someone who transitioned from sales related role I can say without a doubt that the grass isn't greener on the other side. That being said, it's not impossible but if your thinking is - its a way to work less and earn more? Than be prepared to be disappointed. There are plenty of engineers with the skillset to do or create anything that is thrown at them. Yet most don't venture out. The reason for that is based on brand. Moreover, marketing your brand. Are you prepare to network? Are you prepared to invest in yourself? Are you prepared to live and breath social media in order to build your brand and base? If there's one way to summize this endeavor it is - great players don't make great coaches. Carpe Diem!

A transition from a mid career software engineer, to a freelance job advocacy is equally challenging, in terms of the catalyst for change individuals. There are many ways, in which you can navigate through the broader anticipation process, by using your expertise, intuition and other forms of competitive advantage. Apparently some universities have been led to believe, that the credit points, are in their lifetime possession, when it's settings are not within their comprehension. The added value know how of the freelancers, is an added asset, to the tertiary knowledge creation process entities and industry.
