It is a good idea to see where you stand as assessments of this nature are critical to the continued development of a career. The real key is what you do when you recognize what your gaps are . A good practice is to process map where you are vs. where you want to be to get to your goals . This gives an inventory visual that you can then use to begin filling the gaps .

Assessing your strengths and gaps can sometimes be a tough exercise in self reflection. If you're able to, talk with a trusted colleague, mentor or friend to help you see the things in yourself you might not otherwise be able to see. I had a mentor/sponsor once point out that I didn't have to box myself in regarding my career to being a specialist in 1 area. In fact, it lead me to making an overall life strategy for myself taking the role of a leader (which means you need to have a few specialties and a lot of general ever growing knowledge). Visualizing what I want to be doing in 5, 10 or even 25 years from now and best positioning myself for when opportunity arises.
