This is my favorite part in the business, being a senior person myself. I love the way the younger generation, understands, analyze, approach a given challenge. Many a times its 180deg to what I have in mind, and yet, that has a reasonable solution. Meanwhile, the seasoned professionals benefit by gaining fresh insights into emerging trends and technologies. Es una buena idea sin embargo es algo artificial por que quieres que alguien produzca algo en otro solo por esa colaboración entre diversos, lo importante aquí es que todos podamos aprender de todos y que el ambiente pueda por si mismo de manera orgánica fomentar no solo la mentoría del que sabe más sino la suficiente confianza del que sabe menos para acercarse con el que sabe para consultarle.

Having team members of various backgrounds, ages and career points can drive informal mentorships where even the younger folks can coach the more seasoned ones on specifics they have experience on, such as cultural, or specific experiences, or specific technical capabilities that one may have been more exposed to. One such experience that was born out of necessity and I found most rewarding, was having a cascading set of "Train + train the trainer" workshops, where initially the development subject matter experts did a refresher with my most senior team members, which then had another similar workshop with what were them my more junior team members - and ultimately, the same junior team members after gathering some expertise, themselves organized "Train + train the trainer" workshops where they trained our newest employees + some partners. My youngest - in soul colleague retired 2 years ago. She was in the professional life (and still is in her personal one) so vivid, curious, open minded, learner, caring, funny, active... She is one of my role models! On the other hand, the youngest in my team was 20, at the beginning of her carrier, scared of mistakes but to proud to admit they are normal and no one was expecting her to perform like a 10 year experience professional. The only necessary thing to do for these colleagues is to openly talk about learning, mistakes and working together. I believe in contribution and collective wisdom, from which I could benefit myself, as a leader.

This is a real tough one, as it falls on the employee to set the "connect" and "disconnect" times and to speak up against piling projects with competing deadlines that cannot be completed unless one gives up their personal time. While is up to each one how they respond to that, is up to you to protect your health, physical and mental. Remember no one will give you back the sunny afternoons you chose to finish the month end reports, get you un-sick or build you a statue, or even a pedestal. Just check how many people still remember you 5 years after you left a company you worked hard for.

Building on what is common is efficient and working with differences is a enormous resource potential for the team and each individual.

The best thing to do in this Situation is to hangout with them. Go on coffee break, have beer on the weekend. Or plan a one day trip. You will get to know how this generation talks , thinks, and the approach they take.
