Learn about Agile's key principles, such as teamwork, flexibility, and continuous improvement. For example, get familiar with the concept of sprints, which are short, defined periods where specific work has to be completed and made ready for review. Also, understand the importance of daily stand-up meetings, where team members discuss what they did yesterday, what they will do today, and any obstacles they face. By grasping these fundamental concepts, you can better adapt to and participate in the Agile process.

A good way to get started with Agile methodologies is to understand the basics, understand the keywords, and key concepts. You should know what a sprint is, what is a backlog, etc. Take some time to learn about scrum, kanban, and all the key concepts. Do some research, there is A LOT of FREE, information available.

To get valuable insights/support. 2.Workshop/Trainings : Take advantage of training opportunities 3.Practice:Start small by applying Agile principles in your daily tasks. Break down your work into smaller, manageable chunks, prioritize them. 4.Ask Questions: Don't hesitate to ask questions and seek clarification whenever you see challenges or uncertainties. 5.Observation: Observe experienced team members apply Agile practices. 6. Solicit feedback: from team members regularly 7.Persistence: Agile adoption takes time and persistence. Be patient and keep practicing.

In the world of hybrid work we need to embrace different options suiting different audiences for communications. Creating an information transmitter is the best way to make the details big and transparent to everyone who needs to know about it. Teach the audience on how to fish the information as and when they want it rather being dependent on the senders. Chose and practice suitable method of communication based on the needs and situation. Like synchronous mode of communication (face to face, video / audio call) for more complex back and forth discussions, while asynchronous (email, chats, posts etc) for announcements, polls, one sided question.

Saber se comunicar expressamente, saber falar com vários tipos de pessoas e personalidades é super importante, inclusive é um diferencial. Nos modelos de desenvolvimento de software e arquitetura de software, comunica??o é essencial. E para entregar uma boa comunica??o direta e clara, seja objetivo nas conversas e tente ser o sempre mais claro o possível. Tenha certeza que todos do time entenderam o objetivo e oque é esperado. N?o tente explicar de mais e sempre fa?a o uso de pausas para que as pessoas consigam processas a mensagem que precisa ser entregue.

Communication is the Key. Giving a mammoth amount of information to anyone as a part of training, knowledge-transfer or plain discussion - never serves the purpose. Each and every step of the process must have transparency and trust building ingrained in it. Teach the intern to work on being clear while communicating, asking for more clarity when in doubt and keeping things transparent.

Agile is based on adaptability towards the changing environment. It's important to understand the reason behind the change though. That helps us understand if the change is really required. We have to keep our mindset curious, open and innovative to be effective in it. Critical thinking and problem solving is helpful when the change happens.

As an intern you're probably attending beginning of your sinked ships experience. Brace yourself, you have an entire professional life ahead and now, Agile is the word that even those who (still) don't know what's it about, embrace. No matter how crappy Agile is in SOME cases, it's thewaythe cookie crumbles now. It's very hard to find a place not doing Agile. It's good to learn it (along with many other truly miserable things) to make a living. In parallel, work on something better. Personally, I cannot wait to see job postings requiring min 3 years experience in something 1 year old. I know, I've experienced this with the cloud ??

Change is the only constant thing. It may not be easy, but learning a lot and putting them into practice is one way of doing it. As an intern, one may not have enough opportunities to embrace change by the way of doing. The best recommendation is to ask for help and to shadow someone who is walking the talk on a project/engagement.

Embracing change within Agile methodologies is crucial, especially in the fast-paced e-commerce industry where customer preferences and market dynamics evolve rapidly. My experience at Tata CLiQ taught me that adaptation is not just about technical agility with Java or Spring Boot, but also about strategic thinking and effective communication. As I pursue my MBA, I'm honing my ability to assist others in navigating change, fostering an environment where every challenge is a chance to innovate and every feedback is a step toward excellence.

In my experience offer to pair program with more experienced team members. This allows you to observe agile practices in action, ask questions in real-time, and receive immediate feedback on your coding approach.

Collaboration in an agile team should be noticeably superior to collaboration in a traditional team; it is no coincidence that the agile manifesto emphasized "customer collaboration over contract negotiation". The contracts that only served to demonstrate whose fault it was disappear here. Everyone must collaborate for the good of the team, nothing here is anyone else's problem.

Teamwork is an agile team’s success. Collaboration between team members helps in continuous learning which in turn leads to innovation. Communicating effectively leads to better product and work satisfaction. Everyone’s contributions and collaboration in an agile team counts towards the team’s successful, quality delivery.

Work in, or sit with an Agile Team to observe the Agile Methodology in action. Continually improve your knowledge with Agile training and certifications.

In my five years working with agile methodologies, I've seen many interns face this challenge. My advice? Lean into the learning curve. First, express your eagerness to learn and adapt to your mentor or team lead. Showing initiative can open up opportunities for guidance and support. Next, immerse yourself in agile resources—books, online courses, webinars, and community forums are great places to start. Don't be afraid to ask questions during meetings or seek out one-on-one time with experienced team members. Volunteer for tasks that push you slightly out of your comfort zone, allowing you to apply agile principles in practice. Remember, agility is as much about mindset as methodology. Embrace the process of continuous improvement!

If you think that, as an intern, your contribution is not necessary, you are wrong. Because you are just starting out, you will be able to provide a "clean" point of view that your veteran colleagues do not have. Most senior testers will miss test cases that only you can see. You are going to carry out code-reviews that are not contaminated by years of always doing it the same way. Don't just ask for help, always offer to help. You are not here to be helped, but quite the opposite.

I always advise newcomers embarking on their Agile journey to prioritize becoming familiar with its principles and practices. Also, you can: Inquire freely: Don't hesitate to ask questions, no matter how fundamental they may seem. Agile environments thrive on open communication, and your proactive approach will be valued by the team. Observe and absorb: Take note as experienced team members navigate through the process. Comprehend how your tasks align with the overarching project objectives. This understanding is paramount.

Seeking opportunities and asking questions helps you to learn and grow. New opportunities means new challenges which means new learnings and success. Seeking any new opportunities to learn and grow basically makes you agile as you are trying to respond in the best possible way to find a solution for the problem.

Become a self reliant individual, which will help to 1. Boosts your self-confidence and self-esteem. 2. Reduces stress and promotes happiness. 3. Improves decision-making. 4. Allows you to help others. 5. Let you experience inner peace. 6. Ensure that you make yourself a priority. Here are some ideas to help you become stronger and more independent 1. Stay motivated by writing to-do lists and tracking your progress. 2. Get active through hobbies and physical activities. 3. Don’t be afraid to voice your opinion. 4. Replace the negative self-talk with positive self-talk. 5. Do things by yourself, whether that's going to the movies alone or taking an online course.

It can be intimidating as a young / early stage professional to adapt quickly and embrace Agile. So as an intern, it is important to feel empowered to ask for help, coaching, guidance and mentoring from skilled colleagues in the organization. Equally important that the organisational culture is conducive. Also approach one's manager for advice and assistance to help ramp up quickly. Stretch a few hours every week to absorb information from various sources out of own interest. Having been in the agile environment for awhile and experienced project execution in whichever flavour(s) of agile is/are followed, one can consider certification, which is purely an indicator of interest, but definitely not of expertise. It will all be worth it.

Keep it simple. Agility is an every day process, it's not anything new. It's not a jargon to be used to prove a point. It's a process to be practiced and not hyped. Look around and you'll notice that there's agility all around. It's definitely not restricted to the software industry. Once you align with the principles then onwards it will be a smooth transition.
