I am not saying to not give it a shot and see where life takes you, but in times of uncertainty, excess stress, or perhaps if you want a loan (A mortgage for instance), or want to start a family, being a W-2 employee may be the right answer. Again, everyone's situation is different so you need to take the time and evaluate before making any decision.

The young workers are increasingly fostering the instability as they are changing jobs rapidly. The companies in other hand cannot be sad with it as they sometimes don't give the correct value to older employees. I think that knowldge manegment is the big gap in all areas and it is going bigger. Something has to be done to revert it as a well susceed long term stay plan, retirement plan...

Getting to specialize in a branch of engineering is the best. I have seen that very few know about electrical maintenance as indicated by IEC 60364-6. And this applies to both the industrial side and office buildings.

A good method is to telephone the end customers: maintenance managers, engineering managers, etc. from different factories. And start by asking if they are needing anything and tell them that I can solve most of the problems that may arise. The best thing to do is to visit them in the industry itself.
