I would never start looking for freelance opportunities as a beginner in the first place. You can't. You don't have the confidence you need to do it. You don't have a portfolio. You don't have any experience. You don't know the market. You need to learn stuff and to write a lot to get to the point where you prove yourself you can do this. Being a freelancer is not an easy thing to do. ON the contrary. It's hard. It's tough. It's really a leap of faith. I know we all start somewhere. Just don't start as a freelancer. Go work for a company and seek advice from people already doing good work. Also, save money for the time you decide to go rogue! =)

First of all, I′m not sure if it's a good idea to start looking for freelance positions. Usually, beginners don't have yet a strong portfolio and still need to improve their writing techniques (although it is ALWAYS necessary). So one tip is to look for companies or agencies, even if they are smaller and don't always pay you well. This is a way of improving your techniques, keeping up to date and building your portfolio. Look for references and build a network. Show what you can write. Then you can look for freelance jobs. Even because there aren't always enough demands to pay your bills at the end of the month.
