What do you do if your web design feedback is overwhelming?

Sorting the feedback into these categories can help you manage and prioritize them more effectively. Outside of this, if the planning stage was done properly, you should have a strong idea of what is more important to start on first. If not, go back and set or re-set the expectations with the stakeholder.

Whether the feedback is coming straight from your boss, a survey, or somewhere else, it's important to organize everything in one place. This way, you can sift through, categorize, and get a complete picture of what needs to be done. With a greater overview, you can more easily delegate tasks or clarify with the appropriate party what the expectation was, and how it differs using the feedback received.

Once you've collected and organized the feedback for yourself, it's a good idea to rewrite the feedback before you respond or ask for clarification. When you tell the other person how you understood their feedback, they can clear up any confusion. If you both agree on what they meant, you can continue with your work. Otherwise, if they don't agree, you can talk more to understand their point of view and find a compromise. It's key to have clear communication and agreement before making changes.

Remember, feedback is an opportunity to respectfully demonstrate your knowledge. Use clear and calm communication. If you intentionally did something (it's a feature, not a bug!), explain to the stakeholder why you made that choice and how you believe it was in their best interest. Don't take the disagreement as a sign of failure or error on your part. It might merely be a reflection of the other person's lack of understanding of your choices.

Also take a moment to understand if the feedback is something subjective, for example, why isn't my logo 600px wide, that's not good feedback, so find a way to communicate with your clients why. Now if the feedback was constructive, and actually something you missed, own it, and communicate with your clients on it.
