One thing I've discovered is that the overall design never fails; it's usually the flow or bits and pieces that confuse consumers. So, my first advice is to figure out what is broken or not working as planned. Communication is the first step in making users feel cared for. utilise handholding to guide users through the intended flow, and utilise copy and cues to ensure they understand what the design intended. Must showcase the benefits of new design adjustments for the users and intended value add. Users should be assured that the platform is with them on this trip and is willing to adapt to their needs based on their experience. If you discover a flaw or error in your design, accept it and move on to improve.

I agree with all the feedback so far, admit the failure, gather feedback, test and retest, iterate quickly, etc. An extra note I have is learn from the experience. Understanding what is happening in your User Experience testing is most important. When trying to drive navigation usage on a search result page at Dell Technologies, we realized that the color choice and use of a dividing line were causing users to ignore the navigation. We didn't have real eye-tracking, but we could easily watch the user's eyes as they read the page. We made everything the same color and removed the line, which worked. We went from 8% usage to 40% usage. Users who see your adapting after a failure will return.

UX design is not limited only to the changes in the interface. It goes a step beyond, communicate and gather feedback. Recently, United airlines revamped their whole process and it is been getting attention from all the users. Well, they indeed took their time but came with a banging update!

If this happens, 1. get out of your chair and talk to users 2. find out how you can right the wrong 3. show your organization a path to righteousness 4. execute, and in that execution inform users that you heard their discontent and made changes (through update notifications, coach bubbles ,etc.) It might be a journey to regain their trust, but humility can go a long way
