Well, first you say: "Another show!" Unexpected difficulties are par for the course. Authorities have been predicting the demise of theatre for over a century, but somehow we hang on. Once, I got off a bus from a day of graduate school (CU Boulder PhD class of 2001), walked down the street to a theatre where I was dramaturg (I was also living there at the time), only to have a script thrust into my hands and a makeshift costume fitted. Half an hour later, I was in front of an audience replacing a lead actor who had walked on an adaptation of Dickens.
