REVERSE brainstorming can be an incredibly effective tool to unlock creativity. Here's how it works: encourage each team member to think freely and without judgment about all the ways the project could fail. Then, take these "negative" ideas and flip them to find creative solutions that could be implemented to avoid these potential failures. For me Brainstorming often just used as an excuse or something you just make on the fly without preparation, who has not heard the sentence "let's just quickly brainstorm ...". I believe the magic lies in bringing the right people together, prepare and foster the exchange with a dedicate set up. So, my tips for better brainstorming would be: - bring a team together that is willing to brainstorm if your focus is idea creation - use an open space, a different place or something that by itself motivates creativity - understand people are different - think about how to facilitate them, to find their space and share ideas openly

Cuando nos enfrentamos a un proceso creativo, el uso de herramientas creativas es fundamental. Hay algunas propuestas como "los 8 locos", "inspiravideos" o "inpirart" que pueden resultar muy útiles. La primera, te obliga a pensar de forma diferente, poniéndote en lugar de 8 sujetos u objetos diferentes y dando respuesta al reto como si fueras ellos (u ello). La segunda, usa videos elegidos al azar para, a partir de lo visto y de como nos sentimos al verlo, generar ideas que afronten el reto al que nos enfrentamos. Psychological safety in any creative ideation setting is critical. I always start workshops by explaining the difference between Routine Thinking and Creative Thinking. In Routine Thinking - what most people do most of the time - the goal is to minimize errors. The only way to do so is to avoid trying anything new. Driving a car, kicking a football or performing open-heart-surgery are all examples of Routine Thinking. In Creative Thinking - the goal is to try new things, and as a consequence be open to making mistakes by putting forward ideas that might suck. You need to demonstrate this as a leader, early and often. Only then will people realize you're serious about fostering a space that is psychologically safe.

My "team" was my class. As a high school educator, I deemed it my duty to provide a space of safety for my students to express themselves in any myriad of ways during our class period (as long as it was on-topic). I encouraged thinking outside of the box and required constructive comments from their classmates. Negative comments and shaming had no place there, just as it has no place in the workplace. Many seem to forget that the employees filling corporate workforces are simply an extension of who they were in school. Therefore teaching and modeling psychological safety early and often is key.

It’s difficult to imagine someone who would like to think or share thoughts that can be criticised or ignored. Psychological safety is not about a mainstream concept but a disciplined everyday steps towards a healthy workplace. It is a conscious attitude that helps the team to redirect their speech, to be able to listen and understand one another and surely to learn from one another with respect and curiosity. It can be an easy road or a tough process, all depending on the starting point and actual level of group consciousness. Improving communication always requires two parts and an honest will to grow.

Muchas veces nos cuesta expresar nuestras ideas en instancias grupales, ya sea por no sentirse en un espacio seguro, por miedo a exponernos o por considerar que los aportes no son lo suficientemente importantes. A mi me resulta útil la “investigación de gabinete”, hay mucha información sobre diversos temas, no hace falta que inventemos la rueda, pero si podemos aplicar la información y ver las cosas desde una perspectiva diferente. Pero eso sí, siempre dar crédito a la fuente.

Los grupos compuestos por personas con distintas perspectivas, áreas, enfoques y grados de autoridad enriquece la creatividad. En mi experiencia, esto es necesario cuando se requiere acciones o tareas multiaudiencias o enriquecer procesos que impactan a distintos públicos.

La diversidad aporta mucho, tanto a nivel de departamentos, de responsabilidades, de personalidades y hasta de culturas. Siempre se puede tener un punto de vista nuevo, lo que agrega valor a los resultados.

Para lograr implementar e interar hay que crear espacios donde los integrantes se sientan seguros de equivocarse y lo hagan lo más rápido y la mayor cantidad de veces posibles. De cada error que se comete se consigue algún elemento que nos acerca a una solución creativa. Es responsabilidad del líder que los miembros de equipo se equivoquen en función de los objetivos del ejercicio y que se sientan libres de hacerlo sin miedo a los juicios tanto del líder como de los demás integrantes del equipo.

Es muy necesario en el entorno empresarial, que se establezcan espacios seguros y dinámicas de team building donde los diferentes miembros del equipo se sientan cómodos para compartir ideas creativas de la índole que sean. Sin este depósito de confianza, es muy difícil que se generen entornos adecuados donde se sucedan estos lugares.
