What do you do if your team members in Plant Operations don't trust you?

This is a typical scenario in quarrying and mining industries, where younger female leaders are often disregarded and undermined. This leads to her team members distrusts her, her direction and plans. In my experience, I spent time in the operations and maintenance with my team, while getting to know them professionally. By understanding their views, I conducted meetings and discussions by inviting them in, showing that I value their experience and input while I guide them through my plan. This method takes time, patience and a heart of steel if you will. Gradually as they see my plan shows positive results, they accepted me and start to cooperate in achieving the plan.

In Plant Operations, if your team members don't trust you, then immediate action needs to be taken to avoid any escalation. For me as a plant supervisor in an oil and gas processing plant, it's important to address the issue promptly and effectively. I will be open to acknowledge the problem first by organizing a one-on-one discussion to listen and understand their feelings of mistrust. To be honest, not being judgmental and avoiding any denials would create an environment where concerns will be aired freely. Take responsibility for any acts or behaviors that may have caused the unforeseen situation.

I think this is depends of my working experience and my knowledge. If my working experience best so I am suggest better solution of problems and solve the any emergency condition of plant so my self trust improving my team.

A repetitive behavior should be a pattern that at least two plus team members would have highlighted during your investigation. Being open-minded allows you not to be easily offended whilst identifying the root cause of mistrust amongst team members.

It's essential to understand that actions speak louder than words. Rebuilding trust requires time and consistent effort. After receiving feedback, implement tangible changes that demonstrate your commitment to improving communication, clarifying roles, and aligning actions with words. Apologize and make amends for past mistakes, showing genuine accountability. Trust isn't rebuilt overnight. By consistently demonstrating your values through actions, you gradually change perceptions and restore trust within your team.

The result of progress would be a authenticity, transparency, productive work environment and individual commitment to achieving the teams goals and targets.
