What do you do if your team collaboration and communication are hindered by illogical reasoning?

This is where you put on your coaching and teacher hat. It is a learning and teachable moment. Work through the dilemma as a team…if possible…talk it through and ask questions. As always…avoid any personal attacks but focus on the issue/s at hand. Being a good facilitator helps as you can guide people back to the conversation.

This is important. In my Lesson Learned #9, The Facilitator Who Wasn’t…one of my lessons learned was the “diverse perspectives”. This needs to be encouraged and not stifled. It also involves everyone…when working as a team.

This cannot be understated. As the crew leader on a landscaping crew they had to see what my expectations were for: mowing, string trimming, and clean up. Meaning when I did those things I was showing them the expectations by example. This also meant that I was always wearing proper PPE by company standards.
