What do you do if your team is not aligned with your vision as a leader?

Remember, clarity is the key to connection and inspiration! To effectively share your vision, it's crucial to communicate in a way that resonates with your audience. This means adapting your message to their experiences, expectations, and level of understanding. By using metaphors, analogies, and examples that are familiar to them, you can paint a vivid picture of your ideas. It's like translating your thoughts into a language they fluently speak, ensuring your vision isn't just heard, but truly understood and embraced.

It is important to clearly articulate the vision with your team and how it aligns with the corporate strategy and mission, however, you need to go a step further and help them understand where they fit and how they contribute.

While leaders set the vision it's never a success if there isn't any buy in from respective teams. Therefore as team lead when you set a vision it's important to establish what we are trying to solve for and if there is a change in direction then answer the why's. Communicating amply on your vision if required daily is the key to ensure everyone takes it as a north star metric.

Overly communicate that you are the expert in this field and bring the receipts with data that you know what you are talking about!

Definitely, Clearly articulate goals, benefits, and alignment with organizational strategy. Use examples and invite feedback to ensure understanding and buy-in from the team.

A vision is not final without the buy-in of the team leaders and team members. It's important to seek out unique and different opinions before landing on the "best idea". Don't be surprised if you're met with objections or questions; don't be afraid of them, they will help you further perfect your vision. When the team has help contribute, it becomes their vision, not yours.

In my experience, people might not seem on board when really the problem is that they aren't feeling heard or included. Listening to their perspective or simply trying to understand the disconnect can actually bring people on board together.

Your vision should be implemented during the interview. If anyone from that point on doesn't have the same vision its usually because they are no longer inspired! You should always inspire your team every day and make sure you are strong and firm but fair.

I think it's important to have group meetings showing the team where your vision leads to, and then identifying the key team members to have one-on-ones with. It might be someone in a senior position, or someone who has a lot of influence within the team. Establishing trust by having open conversations and listening.

Ask for questions on the subject matter and brainstorm as a team. Log all of their ideas and have them unified together and make sure to acknowledge each other’s responses and have them select the best course of action.

Transparency is the key to fleshing out and resolving conflicts and pin pointing why there is resistance. When people understand the “what “ and the “why” it creates opportunities to move forward to the “how” If there is any confusion another person vested in the vision to assist is always welcome but communication, honestly and transparency rule here even if there is a disagreement because knowing is the foundation that creates a process map to agreement and resolution

Also, Offer support and resources: Provide the necessary resources, training, and support to help team members align their efforts with the vision. Address any obstacles or challenges they may face in implementing the vision.

To truly inspire others, one must find a wellspring of inspiration within. It's a cycle of positivity; when you ignite your own passion, it naturally spreads to those around you, creating a vibrant atmosphere of motivation. Similarly, the drive to motivate your team starts with self-motivation. By setting personal benchmarks of excellence, you lead by example, demonstrating that every hurdle can be overcome with determination. Encouragement is a powerful tool; when you foster it within yourself, your leadership becomes a beacon that guides and uplifts your team to new heights.

Having a space where the team can share their own ideas is fundamental. I would encourage everyone to be informed and up to date with new trends and data from the industry, and share it with the rest of the team. For example: analyzing recent success stories, and cases they liked. Why were they successful? What did they like about it? Then tie it with our own work and possibilities. I think these meetings should be scheduled regularly, and it's important that everyone gets something out of them. It's not just another 'could have been an email' or a group chat kind of meeting.

In the quest for universal approval, one might as well sell ice cream – it's a product that delights nearly everyone, regardless of age or background. This adage humorously underscores a truth in business and life: it's impossible to please everyone. Instead, success often lies in targeting a niche audience with precision and passion. By understanding and catering to the specific needs and desires of that audience, businesses can create a loyal customer base, rather than diluting their efforts in an attempt to appeal to all.

Most importantly, Lead by example: Demonstrate commitment to the vision through your actions and decisions. Show integrity, passion, and dedication to inspire and motivate your team to embrace the vision.

The first thing would be to assess your vision! You’d want to ensure your vision isn’t out of focus and reach. Next, it may be prudent to poll the team by conveying your vision to see if there’s a global consensus or a total miss! Gather the information from the poll and schedule a team meeting. Preface the meeting by thanking them for their input. Then let them know the meeting’s purpose is to get their feedback in order to understand and/or re-establish the vision. As the leader, you set a baseline for the vision and then allow the team to develop it through their collaboration. Once the team is agreeable, give the opportunity for them to present it. This helps them to own and connect to it, as you’ve all now achieved it together!

Once gained share your vision find you enablers within your team carry the message ...it's about influence.....it might not be you who has the influence it might others in your team
