I think it gets missed that you are there to perform a task that was outlined before you ever accepted your position. I think it's also fair to say that the supervisor may forget that one of their key objectives is to support the people they oversee. Having said that, you must evaluate your supervision and when necessary, push back when you believe you are right. This doesn't mean you are right but in pushing back the supervisor may learn information from you that they were unaware of and vice-versa. You may not like your supervisor or always agree with them, but you do have to be open enough to maintain a working relationship.
