Regular check-ins encourage testers to manage their time more effectively and it provides an opportunity to discuss the quality of testing efforts. Testers can raise any concerns they have about quality of the software being tested, allowing managers to take the corrective actions. But sometime too many follow ups can also result in demotivating the testers so management has to know how much space has to be given for a tester to plan, perform and complete their activities efficiently.

Ironically, one way to improve time management is to encourage regular breaks. Continuous work without adequate rest can lead to burnout and decreased productivity. Promote a culture where taking short, scheduled breaks is the norm. One thing I have found helpful is to prepare a plan for how you will handle tasks with time allocated for each task. First start by dividing your tasks into small manageable subtasks then estimate time needed for each while taking risk into consideration. As you progress through the day and complete tasks update your plan with actual time it took you to complete the task. At the end of the day, compare the actual time with the estimated time. In addition to that, prepare a plan for tasks that would take more than a day to complete. This can be done by prioritizing your tasks first then estimating them. Similarly to the daily plan add the actual time it took. Then after each task is done compare actual time with estimated time.
