I find it very important that the person responsible for the analysis to know really well the field where you work. You are responsible for the decision but to have someone that understands about the field and your competitors makes it a lot easier for them to help make your analysis more precise for what you actually need

Data analysis is really important but someone not only checking that but also with knowledge of particularities of your company and competitors doing so, is even better. Often companies rely on one or the other and their decisions end up stuck in a department where that decision doesn't actually fit.
