A roadblock in your Career is most probably related to a dynamic changing environment around you while in the same time you are adapting classic techniques that was effective and useful to you in the past .. but are no longer applicable . Be like a chameleon ,it won't help you to stay red if the world around you is turning green.

I think aging account managers have more skills, but less aggression. Some AM rules roles lend themselves more to these traits. Let the younger, more idealistic folks fill the roles that require aggressive hunting. Even better, have you thought about being a sales manager? Some of the best, most aggressive AMs make horrible sales managers. Your long career has probably made you an expert in knowledge and skills, even if you don't deploy them as well as you once did. Face it, the AM role requires almost extreme motivation and effort. Most people can only keep that up for so long. Admit your weaknesses and use your strengths. You certainly have useful strengths at this stage!

Officially I'm past retiring age, but I still want more out of life. I didn't want to go down the normal networking business tunnel, but found something similar, but is based on helping others, especially in the mental health space. I have plans for creating wealth, but want to be philanthropic with most of it. So that might put me in a space of my own.

I realized that making a sale had the exact same steps as making a wave. As a matter of fact you could replace the word sale with wave and boom you’d instantly have the best information to get you started in the surfing world. So consider a new perspective and reflect on older perspectives that may unlock your creativity in learning how to build resilience and make that wave (or make that sale).

"Customers buy out of need or buy what they think they need" "Customers buy from people they like, relationships are one of the foundations of sales" My current boss quoted both of these things to me when I took over as a salesman. I pride myself on working hard to build lasting relationships within my market. I have a job where I am visiting my accounts at least once a month. Most I see once a week. Building these relationships provides a work environment where both my account and myself can grow and get the most out of each other.
