If you are considering a salary negotiation I assume you have gathered all relevant information with respect to company standards, your worth and expected hike percentage. Still when things do not work out you need to assess the situation in light of your long term goal. If you have not yet worked on it, you shall chalk out a plan about where you want to be in a certain period of time and collect all relevant, workable options around it. At times all it needs is to look at the bigger picture to have a clear understanding of the current scenario. I am sure, the decision making will be a lot easier post that - switch, stay, upgrade or a complete change. It all depends on the clarity you seek and how.
