I think one of the things I have learned is to separate our job from our being. Although in some cases our job can be part of our being, our being keeps us afloat in dire and difficult times like not getting a raise for example despite having the skills and done everything correctly. So by focusing on your being means what fuels you and that could be another skills. For example, I write and do poetry. I also like to engage in some professional developments, speak at events and coach young people when I have a free time. Those things are part of my being and would not want to lose them for anything. Sometimes it is the reasons why you are wanted in the room.
